Academic Noemí Pereda visits Fundación Amparo y Justicia

The meeting between members of the Foundation, a representative of Universidad Diego Portales, and the expert, a professor of Victimology at the Universidad de Barcelona (Spain), allowed for the exchange of experiences and best practices, in addition to highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration to address sex crimes against children and teens.

In a day marked by an exchange of experiences and knowledge, the renowned international expert Noemí Pereda visited the offices of Fundación Amparo y Justicia.

The Doctor in Clinical and Health Psychology and Professor of Victimology at the Universidad de Barcelona (Spain) met with the Foundation’s team to share her vast experience in Psychology and Criminology, especially focused on sexual violence against children and teens.

Among those attending the event were María Elena Santibáñez, board member at Amparo y Justicia and academic at Universidad Católica; Loreto Moore, Executive Director of Amparo y Justicia, and representatives from the different Foundation departments.
Lorena Contreras also participated, an academic and director of the Graduate Program of the School of Psychology at Universidad Diego Portales.

Highly important topics were addressed at the meeting, such as prosecuting sex crimes and the implementation in Chile of Act 21,057 on Videorecorded Interviewing. Likewise, the phenomenon of grooming (sexual abuse of children and teens through the Internet) was discussed, and the new lines of advocacy that Amparo y Justicia has proposed to continue improving criminal proceedings in cases of sex crimes against children and teens were addressed.

This event strengthened ties between academic institutions and organizations dedicated to the protection of children’s rights and promoted the development of more effective strategies to address child sexual violence.

Professor Noemí Pereda’s visit to Chile took place within the framework of an invitation extended by the Master’s Degree Program in Legal and Forensic Psychology of the Universidad Diego Portales.
