Instructors begin specialization course on Effective Feedback in continuous interviewer training

This initiative seeks to contribute to the proper implementation of Act 21,057 on Videorecorded Interviewing as part of the Continuous Training Program for Instructors.

Fundación Amparo y Justicia started the course “Effective feedback in the continuous training of interviewers,” part of the Continuous Training Program for instructors of Act 21,057 on Videotaped Interviewing with children and teens.
The course, which is being offered now for the first time, seeks to enable instructors to employ communication strategies for the delivery of effective feedback, thus enhancing the performance of interviewers and intermediaries within their respective institutions.
The system’s instructors provide expert feedback to interviewers -after a Videotaped Interview- and intermediaries -after the child’s statement at a trial-, so it is essential to provide correct feedback that allows them to know how they are doing their job and how to improve their performance.
The program is taught by experts Francisca Azolas and Maísa Valdivia, psychologists and Technical Advisors of Fundación Amparo y Justicia, who highlight the importance of this course. “The feedback is important for learning; it’s an enriching and constructive conversation where the instructor tells the interviewer how he or she is doing and what aspects to manage to improve their performance. This course provides guidelines for this message to be effective and also allows participants to learn about and share various inter-institutional experiences and best practices,” says Francisca Azolas.
The course also includes innovative tools, such as the analysis of simulated cases recorded on video.
The professionals attending the course belong to various institutions, such as the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of the Interior, the Investigations Police, and Carabineros Police.
The first edition of this course will run until May 17, while the second will begin on July 31.
