Amparo y Justicia participates in a conference on the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of children and teens, organized by PDI and Universidad San Sebastián

The event held at the Puerto Montt campus of U. San Sebastián featured the experts Carolina Pavez and María Soledad Álvarez as two of their speakers.

Fundación Amparo y Justicia was part of the “CSEC Conference: Retraining on competencies in matters related to sexual assault and violent behaviors that translate into the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children,” an event organized by the Graduate Department of the Universidad San Sebastián (USS) and the Chilean Investigations Police (PDI).

The event was held at the Puerto Montt campus of Universidad San Sebastián, where leading experts addressed various perspectives on the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Teens.

Carolina Pavez, sociologist and researcher, and María Soledad Álvarez, PhD in Psychology and researcher, spoke on behalf of Amparo y Justicia.

The experts provided interesting data related to this type of crime and referred to the history and implementation of Act 21,057 on Videotaped Interviewing, as well as the use of this resource in CSEC cases. This legislation, which was promoted by Fundación Amparo y Justicia, is considered a key element to preventing the secondary victimization of victims.

Other speakers included Hermann Melcherts, Commissioner of the PDI’s Community Support and Action Department; Jorge Díaz, Judge of the Puerto Montt Criminal Court; Carlos Colmenero, Director of Operations for the Southern Cone of the Americas for Operation Underground Railroad (OUR Rescue); Albert de la Huerta, Regional Director of Operations for Latin America, OUR Rescue; and Maurizio Sovino, Director of the Specialization Unit for Sex Crimes and Sexual Exploitation of the National Prosecutor’s Office.
