The International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse & Neglect (ISPCAN) held its outstanding 2024 ISPCAN Congress.
The event took place from August 18 to 21 in Upsala, Sweden, and brought together researchers, academics, and professionals from different countries who work to protect the rights of children and teens, and Amparo y Justicia was among them.
At the Congress, the Foundation’s Executive Director, Loreto Moore, noted that: “being part of ISPCAN 2024 has been a huge opportunity for Amparo y Justicia, where we can learn from the best international experts and connect with the people who work to prevent and improve the response to children that have been, or are at risk of being, victims of severe crimes. We are going home with many new ideas and valuable contacts that will help us to continue the fight for a fairer and more effective access to justice.”
The Foundation was also represented by President Alejandro Espinoza; Director María Elena Santibáñez; head of Public Studies and Policies, Nicolás Pietrasanta; psychologist from the Training Department, Yohanna Douglas; and the sociologists and researchers, Carolina Pavez and Carolina Sobarzo.
Amparo y Justicia representatives had the chance to meet with important international experts. These include the doctor and pediatrician Joanna Garstang (UK); doctor and academic Tsung-Hsueh Lu (Taiwan); doctor and child protection expert, Vincent Palusci (USA); an epidemiologist from Michigan Public Health Institute, Sasha Mintz (USA); and professor from University of Cape Town (South Africa), Shanaaz Mathews.
This year’s ISPCAN Congress was attended by more than 900 people from 75 countries.
